Accelerated Reading

Our Accelerated Reading Programme supports our pupil's progress in their reading skills and encourages them to develop a love of reading.  Each pupil is assigned a book level, dependent on their reading age and then they choose a book to read from a wide selection of popular books we have available to them on that level.  Once the pupils have read the book they complete a quiz based on what they have read which gives them immediate feedback on how well they have understood or read that book.  If the pupil's score 100% in the book quizes on that level, they move up to the next level. 

The Accelerated Reading Programme also tracks how many words the pupil's have read that academic year, which is very motivational for many of our pupils.  We are always excited to see if we will have a 'word millionaire', a pupil who has read a million words in an academic year!  What an achievement!

In order for our pupil's to make the most of their time in Accelerated Reading it is vital that they come well prepared.  Below is our Accelerated Reading Timetable for the Academic Year 2023/2024, please ensure your child has their book and book bag in school for these sessions:
